From December 13 to 15, 2024, the second ITF seminar in Bengaluru was successfully conducted. As for the first seminar earlier in 2024, GM Paul Weiler, ITF President, and Master Yogi Chand from England travelled to Southern India. This time, the organizer Sbn Byrappa (4th Dan) secured a venue that also offered accommodation, making it easier and more affordable for participants traveling from Chennai to stay.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Sbn Byrappa, his family, and all the helpers for their exceptional efforts and warm hospitality in making this event a success.
Umpire Seminar via Zoom
On Friday afternoon, December 13, 2024, GM Abelardo Benzaquen, Chair of the ITF Umpire Committee, conducted a 4.5-hour Zoom seminar for the local participants in Bengaluru. Making use of modern technology, GM Benzaquen could successfully present the full seminar from the other side of the world, from Argentina.
The seminar covered three key topics:
- Tuls (patterns),
- Sparring,
- Power Breaking Tests.
These topics were presented with great clarity and detail, using a combination of texts, graphics, images, and videos. The comprehensive explanations left participants with very few questions.
Looking ahead, there are plans to build upon this initiative. We thank GM Benzaquen for his professionalism, engaging presentation, and his willingness to step in on such short notice.
Donated Equipment for India
A generous donation of uniforms (doboks) from Master Oriolani of Italy allowed us to distribute 21 doboks to participants from Bengaluru and Chennai. We are immensely grateful to Master Oriolani for this thoughtful contribution, which has significantly benefited the local Taekwon-Do students.
Technical Seminar
The weekend of December 14–15 was dedicated to the technical aspects of Taekwon-Do. Participants were divided into two groups:
- Colored belts (up to blue belt), and
- Red and black belts.
The instructors, GM Paul Weiler and Master Yogi Chand, emphasized precision in technique execution, while allocating ample time for repetitions to ensure mastery.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Plans for 2025 are already underway and will be refined further to maintain the current momentum. With its status as the world’s most populous country, India holds immense potential for Taekwon-Do’s growth. Unlocking this potential will not only strengthen the local community but also extend to neighboring countries, creating a broader regional impact.
We are ready to embrace this exciting challenge and look forward to the future of Taekwon-Do in India.
