World Cup 2026: Everything You Need to Know

More than 200 participants from around the world joined the online information meetings in English and Spanish on Saturday, July 25, 2026, where the Organising Committee presented the latest updates and jointly answered questions with ITF officials about the World Cup 2026 in Benidorm, Spain.

To help all athletes, coaches, umpires, clubs and National Associations prepare for Benidorm, we have summarized the key information below.

1. Important Dates

Keep these important deadlines in mind as you prepare for the World Cup:

10 August 2026 – Final accommodation payment
27 August 2026 – Registration and payment deadline
19 September 2026 – Online Coaches’ Meeting with first competition schedule
28 September 2026 – Accreditation, verification, weigh-in, and official meetings
29 September – 3 October 2026 – ITF World Cup competition
30 September 2026 – ITF Adapted World Cup

2. Registration

The registration process is completed through SportData. Before submitting your entries, carefully check:

Competitor details
Age and weight categories
Degree/grade
Team events
Coach registrations

Please do not wait until the final days before the deadline. Early registration allows enough time to correct any errors before entries are finalized.

During the meeting a repeated question addressed the coach registration: every coach needs to be registered individually. Even heads of delegation or team managers. Without the individual coach ID card, you will not be allowed to the competition floor!

3. Payments and Accommodation

Accommodation and registration are handled separately.

Please ensure that:

Registration fees are paid to the Organising Committee.
Accommodation payments are made directly to Beniconnect.
Payment references clearly identify your club or delegation.
Payment confirmations are retained until the event.

4. Travel to Benidorm

Participants are encouraged to plan their travel well in advance.

The Organising Committee has provided information regarding:

Recommended airports
Airport transfer services
Accreditation procedures
Arrival and departure planning

Should your travel plans change unexpectedly, please inform the Organising Committee as soon as possible.

5. Competition Preparation

Several important activities will take place before the competition begins, including:

Coaches’ Meeting
Umpire Meetings
Accreditation and verification
Official weigh-in

Competitors and coaches are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the updated ITF Competition Rules, which have been in force since January 2026.

6. Athlete Safety

Athlete welfare remains one of the ITF’s highest priorities.

Participants are encouraged to review the ITF Concussion Policy before travelling to Benidorm.

In addition:

A Medical Fitness Certificate, completed by the athlete’s physician, is strongly recommended. While it may be presented during registration, it is not mandatory for participation in the ITF World Cup 2026.
Every athlete is also encouraged to carry a Medical Background Sheet, containing important medical information such as allergies, medications or pre-existing conditions. This document remains with the athlete and enables the event medical team to provide faster and more appropriate treatment should medical assistance be required.

Appropriate medical insurance is also strongly recommended for all participants.

7. Adapted Taekwon-Do World Cup

The ITF continues its commitment to making international competition more inclusive.

Several important measures have been introduced for the Adapted World Cup:

No registration fee
No accreditation fee
No minimum stay requirement
Open to practitioners of all grades
Entire competition held on Wednesday, 30 September 2026

These initiatives make participation easier than ever for athletes, clubs and families.

8. Participation of Russian/Belarusian Athletes

During the information meeting, the organizer clarified the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes.

Following the decision of the IOC and ITF to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes, great uncertainty was identified in our ITF community. The original statements from July 7, 2026, allowed those athletes only if there are no contradicting national regulations. And in accordance with Spanish legislation, Russian and Belarusian athletes may participate only as Neutral Athletes (AIN) as in the previous years.

They will compete without the national flag, anthem or national symbols, in line with the conditions established for international sporting events held in Spain.

9. Press and Media

The ITF World Cup 2026 welcomes media representatives who wish to cover the event professionally. To ensure smooth operations and appropriate access, all journalists, photographers, and media personnel must complete the official media accreditation process in advance to receive an official accreditation and a Press ID.

Accredited media will receive access to the competition area – similar to the previous years in Porec (2025) or Mar del Plata (2024). Representatives of clubs and National Associations are encouraged to coordinate their media requests early and carefully. After the registration deadline, the ITF will decide about the Press ID requests and informs the accredited press.

The organizer also clarified that club photographers have a great view on the entire competition area from the spectator area.
