From July 16 to 19, 2026, the National Association of ITF Taekwon-Do of Honduras (ANHT-ITF) successfully hosted the III. Central American and Caribbean Championship “XXII Catracha Cup”. The event brought together over 200 competitors from eight countries: the United Statesof America, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and the host nation, Honduras.
Throughout the championship, competitions took place across various divisions, including kids exhibition sparring, individual and team tul (patterns), individual and team sparring, pre-arranged sparring, power breaking, and special techniques. This provided participants with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, technical skills, and competitive spirit on an international stage.
One of the key highlights of the event was the high level of commitment and dedication displayed by all competitors. In every performance, they reflected the tenets of Taekwon-Do through courage, perseverance, determination, and a true warrior spirit. Furthermore, both color belts and black belts demonstrated an excellent technical and competitive level, raising the overall quality of the championship.
The primary purpose of this championship was to strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood among the countries of Central America and the Caribbean, with the following objectives:
- Elevating the technical and competitive level of all participants.
- Providing an international competition experience that contributes to the athletic growth of the competitors.
- Strengthening students’ ability to manage pressure, discipline, and self-control during competition.
- Consolidating cooperative and fraternal relations among the national organizations affiliated with our ITF.
The success of the event was made possible thanks to the extraordinary work of 45 umpires, directed by GM Rubén Suárez, member of the ITF Umpire Committee. They carried out their duties with professionalism, impartiality, and commitment, guaranteeing the safety of the competitors and compliance with the highest technical and regulatory standards.
We express our deepest gratitude to all the leaders, Masters, Instructors, umpires, parents, collaborators, volunteers, and students who made the success of this championship possible. Your effort, dedication, and support were essential in consolidating this important international event.
In a special way, we recognize Lic. Leticia Izaguirre, President of the National Association of ITF Taekwon-Do of Honduras, for her outstanding leadership and active participation as a member of the Organizing Committee, significantly contributing to the success of the championship.
We are pleased to announce that the next edition of the Central American and Caribbean Championship 2027 will take place on August 21 and 22, 2027, in Jamaica, where we will continue to strengthen the bonds of friendship, cooperation, and technical excellence that characterize our organization.
Together we continue to grow, promoting the values of Taekwon-Do and strengthening the ITF and the national organizations of Central America and the Caribbean.
