The official founding of the South American Taekwon-Do ITF Federation (FST) was confirmed during the recent Continental Congress held in Santiago, Chile, with participation from 10 countries: Paraguay, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
The Congress unanimously selected the city of Asunción, Paraguay, as the official headquarters of the new Federation, and elected Paraguayan lawyer and sports leader Sbn. Fernando Arrúa as the first President of the FST, marking a significant milestone for Paraguay and for regional sports governance.
The creation of the FSTrepresents a strategic step forward for the Taekwon-Do ITF community in South America, aiming to provide a more efficient, inclusive, and locally responsive organizational structure. The Federation will immediately establish technical, umpiring, athletic, and institutional development committees to ensure active participation and professional coordination across the continent.
As part of the foundational resolutions, the host cities for the next South American Championships were also confirmed:
• 2026 – Lima, Peru
• 2027 – Brazil
• 2028 – Colombia
These events reflect the Federation’s commitment to sporting excellence, regional integration, and long-term planning.
With Asunción now serving as the strategic hub of South American ITF Taekwon-Do, and under new leadership, the Federation is poised to elevate the standard of events, training, and governance across the region, setting a strong example of unity and growth for the global martial arts community.
