Bamako, Mali – July 25–26, 2026 — Marking a significant milestone for the development of martial arts in West Africa, the Association Malienne de Taekwon-Do ITF successfully hosted the country’s first-ever ITF Taekwon-Do Seminar. The historic event took place at the University Campus Sports Hall in Bamako.

Organized under the auspices of the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) as part of an initiative to strengthen support for North and West African nations, the seminar was conducted by Sabumnim Mohammed Joudari (6th Degree), President of the Moroccan ITF Taekwon-Do Union.
Technical Excellence and Didactic Approach
The opening session combined theoretical instruction with hands-on practice. Sabumnim Joudari led a highly pedagogical program focused on fundamental movements, technical corrections, and the precise execution of hand and foot techniques (Taekwon). Participants were also introduced to the administrative structure of the ITF, its international leadership, and the core philosophy of the art.




On Sunday, the focus shifted to Tul (patterns). Demonstrations and applications ranging from Chon-Ji to Yul-Gok captivated both participants and distinguished visitors, showcasing the precision and power of ITF fundamentals.
High-Level Attendance and Media Coverage
The seminar brought together a diverse group of practitioners, including two 4th Degree instructors, three 2nd Degree instructors, twelve 1st Degree black belts, a strong contingent of red belts (with black stripes), and numerous promising young athletes who represent the future of ITF in Mali.

The event drew significant national attention, receiving comprehensive, full-length coverage by Mali’s national broadcaster, ORTM 1 (Office de Radio Télévision du Mali).
Distinguished guests in attendance included:
- Mr. Mamadou Sall, former Vice-President of the Malian Taekwondo Federation (WT), who delivered a speech expressing deep appreciation for the growth and quality of the event.
- Mr. Drissa Napo, three-time consecutive African Vovinam Champion.
- Various prominent figures from the Malian sports community.
Looking Ahead
The seminar concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony recognizing the effort and technical progress of all participants.
Special recognition and heartfelt gratitude were extended to Mr. Seydou Guindo, pioneer and main driving force behind the development of ITF Taekwon-Do in Mali, whose vision made this historic gathering possible.
