The International Taekwon-Do Federation is led – according to the statutes – by the Board of Directors. Yet, the many different tasks of the ITF cannot be carried out by the Board of Directors alone. And here comes the 17 ITF Standing Committees into play.
Some of the ITF Standing Committees are working very visible by being responsible for the ITF technical courses, organizing ITF World Championships or maintaining the ITF communications channels (e.g. ITF website). Other Standing Committees work more behind the scenes, as the Audit, Risk, and Compliance Committee or the ITF Disciplinary Committee. All Standing Committees have a clear work assignment. And yet, very many points overlap and collaboration is not only beneficial but necessary.
The ITF Committee Chair Meeting is organized to exactly fulfil this purpose: intesify collaboration, inspire work and projects, and increase the team spirit among the ITF Standing Committees. On Saturday, March 25, 2023, the ITF President GM Paul Weiler invited all chairs of the ITF Standing Committees to the first virtual ITF Committee Chair Meeting in 2023. In the 2h meeting via Zoom, every Committee had the chance to present its latest achievement and lessons learned, as well as future plans and projects. During the discussions, twelve Committee Chairs together with GM Paul Weiler, GM Clint Norman (ITF Senior Vice President) and Master Annick van Driessche (ITF Board Member) initated some projects and collaborations and renewed the team spirit.
After this successful virtual meeting, everyone is looking forward to the next ITF Committee Chair Meeting in a face-to-face setting in Tampere, Finland, at the ITF World Championships 2023.
