Four days from now, Benidorm in Spain becomes the center of the ITF Taekwon-Do world. The 10th ITF Taekwon-Do World Cup 2026 opens in the Costa Blanca resort town of Benidorm on September 28, 2026, with six days of an intense program — Monday’s registration, weigh-in, and General Assembly 2026, Tuesday’s Opening Ceremony and first day of competition, and four further days running through Saturday, October 3. On Wednesday, there is the Adapted World Cup, on Thursday it is the “Be Brave” campaign with hundreds of female competitors, umpires, and officials sending a strong message to the world, and on Friday, there is the World Cup Gala.
The registrations confirmed the biggest World Cup yet: competitors from 57 countries and more than 2,600 athletes are on course to compete, spread across the full program of ITF Taekwon-Do disciplines — Patterns, Sparring, Special Technique, Power Breaking and Pre-Arranged Sparring — and age divisions running from Pre-Junior (12 years old) through to Veteran (46 and above). Once competition begins, 11 rings will run in parallel at the competition venue Palau d’Esports l’Illa de Benidorm, giving fans and delegations alike a packed program every single day.
While the World Cup is a club event, the biggest countries in Benidorm stand well clear of the rest of the field: Argentina, with 386 athletes, and Ireland, with 261 — a reminder of just how much depth these two federations are bringing to this anniversary edition. Spain, competing on home soil, completes the top 3 countries. And it is not only the top 3 countries: an impressive eight countries have a three-digit number of athletes in this World Cup.
This is the ITF’s flagship event of the year, and the federation — founded by General Choi Hong Hi and today spanning six continents and with more than 120 member associations worldwide — is bringing its full community to the Costa Blanca for it.
