On Friday, March 6, a meeting was held between the chairs of the Umpires Committee and the Children’s Development Committee, GM Abelardo Benzaquén and M. Fabián Izquierdo, respectively.
The purpose of this first meeting was to deepen the collaboration of the Children’s Development Committee in aspects related to the participation of children in ITF competitions and, in turn, to receive instructions or requests for assistance from the Umpires Committee.
The analysis of the specific Competition Rules for the Pre-Junior and Junior categories, as well as the need for specialization through training in some topics related to child care and protection, were some of the topics discussed.
In addition, an introduction and brief explanation was given about the Children’s Skills Games, a type of training event intended to provide tools for the participation of young children and serve as preparation for traditional competitions.
Regular meetings between the participating committees were agreed upon, and the need to invite other committees to conduct training and share information on health, legal, educational, and other aspects related to children was expressed.
