The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced the list of candidates for the election of eight athletes to WADA’s Athlete Council for the term 2025-2027.
Out of 26 candidates deemed eligible for this position, Master Hong Looi (Ireland), chair of the ITF Athlete Committee, was one of the selected candidates.
In the press release, WADA stated to be “thrilled to see the level of interest in joining the Athlete Council. WADA’s Athlete Engagement Department works in close collaboration with the Athlete Council to ensure that the athlete experience is captured in everything that we do.”
The ITF is a signatory of the World Anti-Doping Agency and compliant with WADA rules for many years. For this first candidacy of one of WADA’s Committees, we are proud to enhance our visibility.
Master Hong Looi is a well-known athlete in the ITF world. With several World and European Championship titles in the years 2009 until 2019, he profoundly knows the athlete’s perspective. After his active career, he worked as a member of the ITF Athlete Committee in the term 2019-2023 and was appointed in 2023 as the current chair of this Committee.
The virtual election is scheduled to take place from December 10-12, 2024.
The entire ITF wish Master Hong Looi the best of luck in his campaigning and the upcoming election, and we encourage ITF members to cast their votes!
