Within the International Taekwon-Do Federation, the pursuit of higher rank has always represented more than the mastery of physical technique. Senior black belt candidates are asked to demonstrate not only advanced skill, but also maturity of thought, depth of understanding, and a meaningful contribution to the art. One of the ways this tradition is upheld is through the requirement to submit a thesis — a written work that captures the practitioner’s research, insight, and personal journey.
ITF Insights is the ITF’s official initiative to preserve and share this academic heritage. As part of this project, the ITF has created a comprehensive, searchable archive featuring theses submitted by members around the world. This central repository transforms decades of individual scholarship into a shared resource for the global Taekwon-Do community.
A Living Library of Taekwon-Do Scholarship
Hosted on the ITF’s official website (main menu > Blog > ITF Insights) and still at its start, the ITF Insights brings currenty together more than 50 theses with an extraordinary variety of subjects. Practitioners will find analyses of technical theory, explorations of training methodology, studies on biomechanics and sports science, reflections on teaching experience, and examinations of Taekwon-Do’s history, philosophy, and cultural influence.
Each thesis adds another layer to our collective understanding of the martial art, and together they form a living library — continually expanding as new Masters contribute their work. Whether you are a student seeking clarity on a particular concept, an instructor developing curriculum, or a researcher exploring martial arts knowledge, the archive offers a foundation for study and inspiration.
Supporting Growth at Every Level
By making these works publicly accessible through ITF Insights, the ITF reinforces a core principle: learning is a lifelong process. Senior practitioners can share their expertise, newer students can broaden their perspectives, and the global community benefits from the diversity of experience and thought represented in these pages.
The archive also supports quality and consistency by providing examples of successful theses and guiding future candidates as they prepare their own submissions. In this way, ITF Insights strengthens both academic rigor and cultural continuity within the ITF.
