The All Europe Taekwon-Do Federation (AETF) held the European Championships 2024 from April 17 to 21 in the city of Lublin, Poland. With a record number of more than 800 participants and an exceptional level of quality, it set new standards. Officially, the “Euros 2024” consisted of three different Championships: the 38th European Taekwon-Do Championships, the 29th Junior European Taekwon-Do Championships, and the 1st Pre-Junior European Taekwon-Do Championships.
The Polish organisers celebrated 50 years of Taekwon-Do in Poland and repeated hosting the European Championships in Lublin 30 years earlier. In addition, the AETF celebrated its 45th anniversary. With these many celebrations, it was clear to expect extraordinary galas. And the participants, from athletes to coaches, from umpires to organising staff, from officials to guests of honour, were not disappointed.
The opening ceremony on Wednesday evening was a mixture of Polish folk dances, artistic athletics, speeches, and awardings. But the emotional highlight was definitely the presentation of two adapted athletes showing their breathtaking skills in pattern and sparring.
From Thursday to Sunday, the competition hall was full with all aspects of ITF competition including the pre-junior division for the first time. The teams and spectators generated an energising atmosphere throughout all four days.
If you missed to follow the European Championships 2024, all bouts were live streamed on the ITF YouTube channel and are available to watch for free. In addition, the well-known TKDTekkers were present as media partners and their fantastic coverage of the emotions in Lublin were unparalleled in Instagram and have already several million views. And finally, a professional reporter from the world leading magazine in sports was onsite for all days to cover the championships but also the institutional advances in the ITF for insidethegames.biz.
