There was 190 Black Belt competitors from 25 countries, Black Belt Magazine reported that some 11,000 spectators watched:
Brunri, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica, England, France, (West) Germany, Greece, Haiti, Holland, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Korea, Malaysia, Paraguay, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United States & Yugoslavia.
