With a heavy heart but for well-known reasons, the World Championship in Finland, which was planned for this year, had to be cancelled.
Instead, an E-World Championship in the disciplines Tul (individual and team) and Pre-Arranged Sparring took place for the first time in the history of the ITF from 05 09. 2021 to 19 09. 2021.
431 athletes from 35 member countries from all continents were distributed over 20 categories, 14 of which were individual and 6 team categories.
40 umpires evaluated the 233 men (seniors and juniors) and 198 women (seniors and juniors) during the 14 days.
Argentina first again!
As in last year’s E-World Cup, Argentina showed itself to be the strongest nation in the technical disciplines and the Argentine National Team again took first place, followed by Norway and Poland. Congratulations to all medal winners!
Behind the scenes!
Since many members are unaware of the time required to plan and run the event, here is a brief overview:
For the preparation of the coaches and judges, a total of 5 meetings were held where the procedure was explained with examples. Further meetings took place for the leading committees, as there are:
The IT Committee, the Tournament Committee and the Umpire Committee.
2300 !!!! Videos had to be viewed, checked and approved before the judges could give their evaluation.
It must be mentioned here that none of the judges knew who else was involved in the judging. Some videos had to be sent back and uploaded again because of formal errors, but there was enough time for that. In addition, Master Vones, who was in charge of the whole championship, was always ready to help – and was therefore also busy at night, due to the different continental times!
Thank you!
At this point I would like to express our sincere thanks on behalf of the ITF Executive Board to Master Vones and GM Katz = IT Committee, Master Benzaquen and Master Wallace = Umpire Committee and Master van den Heuvel and GM Garnaes = Tournament Committee, the umpires and also the ITF Treasurer and the Communications Committee! Without their work none of this would have been possible!
Below you will find a highlight of the championship, created by Master Vones (see link).
