The ITF wishes to inform all members of an important update regarding the format of individual pattern competition at major ITF events.
Following recent adjustments to competition procedures, individual patterns were performed one after the other rather than simultaneously. This change generated differing opinions across the ITF community. It is important to clarify that, under the current ITF Tournament Rules, both formats – simultaneous performance and individual performance in sequence – are permissible.
While the initial feedback on the sequential performance format was largely positive, including feedback from umpires, the ITF has since received an increasing volume of concerns and negative feedback from national associations as well as continental representatives.
After careful consideration, and following consultations with the Coaches’ and the Athletes’ Committee, all relevant perspectives were reviewed and the advantages and disadvantages of each format were thoroughly assessed. As a result of this evaluation, the ITF has reached a unified decision.
Effective immediately, at ITF World Championships and ITF World Cups, individual pattern competitions will once again be performed simultaneously.
This decision reflects the ITF’s ongoing commitment to fairness, consistency, and the best possible competitive environment for athletes, officials, and organizers alike.
The ITF thanks all members for their constructive feedback and continued dedication to the development of Taekwon-Do worldwide.
