The AIITA National ITF Taekwon-Do Championship 2025 was held from 27 to 29 December 2025 at the Veer Bahadur Singh Sports College, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The event brought together 308 athletes from 17 Indian states, demonstrating the growing national footprint of ITF Taekwon-Do.
Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest participation, with strong representation also from West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, and Tamil Nadu. The championship was supported by SportsData and featured electronic scoring (e-scoring), ensuring accuracy, transparency, and fair play throughout the competition.
Activities began on 26 December with a press conference at the Press Club of Gorakhpur, attended by senior AIITA officials, including President Prof. Vijay Chahal and Secretary General Sbn Santosh Kumar Yadav, along with the local organizing committee from the Taekwon-Do Sports Academy of Uttar Pradesh.
On 27 December, athlete registration, weigh-ins, and medical examinations were conducted, followed by umpire and coach meetings. The AIITA General Assembly was also convened, addressing key matters such as the 2026 National Championship in Guwahati, government recognition of AIITA, international event planning, proposed training initiatives, and national team selection for the World Cup 2026.
The championship was formally inaugurated on 28 December by Chief Guest Prof. Poonam Tandon in the presence of senior AIITA officials and distinguished guests. The ceremony included cultural performances, Taekwon-Do demonstrations, and a female black belt demonstration bout, along with an awareness session on oral health and athlete safety. Competition events included individual sparring and patterns for colour belt divisions.
The final day featured black belt individual events, team sparring and patterns, and power breaking for both colour belt and black belt categories. The closing ceremony was attended by Chief Guest Mr. Aale Haider and Guest of Honour Dr. Yogesh Singh. On this occasion, AIITA officially launched its national website: www.itftkdindia.in.
The championship was organized by Sabum Santosh Kumar Yadav, with Sabum Dr. Biplab Laskar as Tournament Director, supported by a technical team of 30 umpires and 26 coaches from across India.
In the final standings, Uttar Pradesh emerged as overall champions, followed by West Bengal, Assam, and Tamil Nadu.
The championship concluded successfully, reinforcing AIITA’s commitment to high standards, athlete development, and the continued advancement of ITF Taekwon-Do in India.
