The World Record Event 2025, held during the Gala of the ITF Taekwon-Do World Championships in Poreč, Croatia, delivered an evening of power, precision, and athletic excellence.
For the first time, the event was conducted under official ITF rules, with certified umpires applying the standards of the Special Technique competition, adapted for an ever-increasing height format. Two categories were contested — male and female — marking a new milestone in the federation’s pursuit of fairness, transparency, and measurable excellence.
In the female division, Michelle Wendykier (Poland) was the sole athlete to pass qualification. She began at 245 cm and successfully set the first official ITF World Record with an outstanding 254 cm flying high front kick (twimyo nopi ap cha busigi).
In the male division, five competitors qualified for the main event. After the first round at 270 cm, only two Romanian athletes remained. In a thrilling finale, Andrei Chiriac (Romania) established a new World Record with an incredible 291 cm jump — a demonstration of exceptional technique, strength, and timing.
The event drew enthusiastic applause from the crowd, symbolizing not only the physical limits of Taekwon-Do but also the spirit of determination and innovation that drives the ITF forward.
