It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Master Hasan Ibrić on June 21, 2025 — our friend, a Taekwon-Do Master, sports administrator, educator, and a highly respected member of the international martial arts community.
Master Ibrić was one of the most respected pioneers of Taekwon-Do in the Balkan region. He was a co-founder of the Slovenian Taekwon-Do Association in 1991, contributing to the development of the discipline in both Slovenia and Croatia. Since 2001, he served as the Secretary General of the Slovenian Taekwon-Do Association, guiding its growth with wisdom and dedication.
He held a Master’s degree in Economics and Management, and his academic and professional contributions extended beyond Taekwon-Do. He published the World of Martial Arts magazine since 2010 and authored the book 125 Years of Sports in Celje. He also lectured at the Faculty for Logistics in Celje and played a vital role in shaping the education of sports staff through the creation of the official Rulebook of Education, approved by the Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport.
His commitment to sports governance was exemplary. He was a member of numerous bodies at the national level, including the Professional Committee for Martial Arts, the Legal and Status Committee of the Slovenian Olympic Committee, and the Sports Foundation Council.
Master Ibrić was instrumental in organizing major international events, such as the European Taekwon-Do Championships 2012 and 2018 in Maribor, Slovenia, 2022 European Taekwon-Do Championships in Porec, Croatia and numerous tournaments under the Slovenian Taekwon-Do Association. Most recently, he was a key member of the Organizing Committee for the upcoming 2025 Taekwon-Do World Championships in Poreč, Croatia.
Beyond his remarkable professional achievements, those who had the privilege of knowing Master Ibrić will remember him as a warm, kind-hearted person—always smiling, always willing to help, and always treating others with sincere friendship and respect. He was deeply committed to the Taekwon-Do family, not only as a leader, but as a true friend and companion.
He was especially proud of his daughter, Tamara, and supported her passionately in every step of her journey—always her biggest fan.
On behalf of the International Taekwon-Do Federation, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, students, and colleagues. The Taekwon-Do community has lost an exceptional leader and a true martial artist—but above all, we have lost a beautiful human being.
Rest in peace, Master Ibrić. Your smile, your spirit, and your legacy will remain with us always.
