On February 6th, 7th and 8th, in the city of Camagüey, Cuba, the International Instructors Course IIC 191 was held, conducted by Grand Master Héctor Marano, Head of the Technical Committee of the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF).
A total of 35 participants attended this important event, coming from Santiago de Cuba, Havana, Camagüey, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Haiti, creating a high-level technical environment and strengthening regional integration.
This course received local support from the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) and the Cuban Association of Martial Arts (ACAM), as well as international support from the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF).
On Friday, a warm welcome was offered by local government authorities, together with provincial representatives of INDER and ACAM.
Throughout the weekend, intensive training was conducted in the following areas:
• Patterns
• Three-step, two-step and one-step sparring
• Free sparring
• Self-defense
• Historical and philosophical aspects of Taekwon-Do
Friday
The first part of the course began with the practice of patterns from Chon-Ji to Choom-Moo, as well as three-step, two-step and one-step sparring.
Saturday
Patterns from first degree to third degree black belt were covered, together with sport sparring techniques, taught by Sabum José Bolívar García, in addition to a general review session for red belts and first degree black belts.
Sunday
The day began with a valuable question and answer session led by Grand Master Héctor Marano, focused on the history and philosophy of Taekwon-Do.
Afterwards, the patterns from fourth to sixth degree black belt were practiced, and the program concluded with a self-defense session conducted by Master Gato Gato.
The International Instructors Course IIC 191 was a great success for Cuba and for the entire Caribbean region. We would like to express our most sincere gratitude to Grand Master Héctor Marano for sharing his knowledge with such dedication and passion, and for teaching us different technical, historical and philosophical aspects of our beloved martial art.
We also thank the ITF for its support and reaffirm our commitment to the development and strengthening of ITF Taekwon-Do in our country.
