On 13–14 September, another ITF seminar took place in Türkiye, marking an important step in strengthening ITF Türkiye and preparing for its next phase of development. The board, led by President Fevzi Kuvvet and Director Pasa Baylan, hosted the event in Istanbul — a vibrant metropolis of 16 million people — in a venue perfectly suited to the occasion.

The seminar attracted around 100 participants, including more than 70 black belts and athletes from the region, especially from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, and Georgia. Under the guidance of the Grand Masters Ung Kim Lan (Member of the ITF Technical and Instruction Committee) and Paul Weiler (ITF President), both from Germany, attendees engaged in sessions covering fundamental exercises, patterns, free sparring, and self-defence. A particularly inspiring highlight was that over half of the participants were girls and women, reflecting the growing inclusivity of Taekwon-Do in the region.
Founding member of the ITF in 1966
The Turkish Federation (ITF Türkiye Taekwon-Do Federasyonu) was one of the founding members of the ITF in 1966. However, following the establishment of the WT in 1973, the federation largely disappeared from the Taekwon-Do scene for many years. Despite this, dedicated instructors kept the ITF spirit alive. Together with committed supporters, they have since re-established an organisation that now seeks official recognition. All necessary documents have been submitted to government authorities, and the process is underway. We look forward to sharing further updates as this exciting journey continues.
