The 2025 Mindfulness ITF Taekwon-Do Open Championships concluded with resounding success, embodying the true spirit of camaraderie, technical excellence, and international friendship. This open-invitation event served as a vibrant platform to unite the ITF community across regions, fostering cooperation and mutual growth.

Distinguished Guests
The championship was honored by the presence and support of distinguished guests, underscoring its significance to both the local community and the martial arts world. We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Pun, BBS, MH, JP, Sha Tin District Councilor, and Mr. Lai, North District Councilor, for their inspiring opening remarks. The event was further graced by leaders and masters from various Taekwon-Do schools, whose presence highlighted the unity and respect within the wider Taekwon-Do fraternity.
Event Highlights
The championship was a monumental gathering, featuring:
- Over 130 competitors, ranging from enthusiastic 4-year-olds to dedicated adults up to 80 years of age.
- Participants from 8 different clubs across Hong Kong and Taiwan, making it a truly regional event.
- Over 120 matches conducted efficiently throughout the day.
- Comprehensive categories: Individual Sparring, Individual Patterns, Team Patterns, and Team Sparring.
Excellence on the Mat
The competition floor was a showcase of dedication and skill:
- High-Level Black Belt Exhibitions: The black belt pattern and sparring divisions provided inspiring matches of the highest quality, displaying power, precision, and exemplary etiquette that captivated all attendees.
- Future Champions: The well-synchronised children’s team patterns demonstrated not only technical promise but also the values of discipline, teamwork, and joy in practice.







Collaboration and Standards
The success of the championships was made possible through significant collaborative efforts:
- International Fellowship: A special thank you to our guests from Taiwan, led by Sabum-nim Carlos Machado. Their participation and support were invaluable in strengthening cross-strait ties within the ITF family.
- Umpire Synchronization: We extend our gratitude to the HKITA Technical Board—Master Anthony Ng, Mr. Andy Leung, Mr. Hok Choy Chan, and Mr. Alex Tsang—for organizing and conducting a pre-tournament umpire course. This crucial initiative ensured a synchronised and fair judging standard across all schools, guaranteeing the integrity and smooth operation of every match.

The 2025 Mindfulness ITF Taekwon-Do Open Championships was a celebration of unity, technical excellence, and the enduring values of our art. It successfully brought together competitors, officials, and supporters from diverse backgrounds to work harmoniously toward a common goal.
Throughout the day, competitors displayed the true spirit of Taekwon-Do as taught by Founder General Choi Hong Hi, emphasizing courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. The event stood as a testament to using these tenets to build a more peaceful world.
We express our deepest gratitude to all competitors, coaches, umpires, volunteers, and supporters. With the strong foundations laid this year, we eagerly look forward to an even more successful and united event in 2026!
