IIC 158 was held from July 28 to 30, 2022, in Radisson Victoria Plaza Hotel, Montevideo, Uruguay. It was conducted by the chairman of the ITF Technical Committee, Grand Master Hector Marano, together with Grand Master Ung Kim Lan. In addition, Master Leonardo Oros Duek, ITF Treasurer and chairman of the ITF Inclusion Committee, was present to hold an ITF Adapted Course.
On Thursday afternoon, the president of the national association in Uruguay, Sbn Victor Hugo Benitez, welcomed all participants and Master Oros Duek officially opened the event. The IIC started with GM Marano teaching the first part of the course focusing in color belt patterns. After that, GM Lan developed three, two, and one step sparring techniques.
The Friday continued with I. to VI. degree patterns with GM Marano, while GM Lan taught with another group self defense techniques.
Later, Master Oros Duek continued with the Adapted Course. At the beginning, he gives each participant, a study book. All worked on two conditions: hyperactivity and hypoactivity, giving instructors the tools to carry on a class forward through playful activities.
At night the official Dinner was made, where the attendants spend a nice evening with the Grand Masters, exchanging Southamerican Taekwon-Do anecdotes in a friendly atmosphere. Sbn Victor Hugo Benitez thanked in his speech the Grand Masters and Masters, as well as all participants for supporting Uruguay with their presence on the event. Sbn Gabriel Colina, Secretary of ITF Uruguay, who had a recent health issue, shared his words with gratitude.
Saturday morning, after shooting the main picture (see above), two groups were split. One group focussed again on pattern while in another group, Master Marcelo Bordiez, Coach of the Argentinian national team, showed various sparring strategies.
Past mid day, the course was closed and all participants had the chance of taking pictures with the Grand Masters, participating schools, and friends. It demonstrated symbolically the good climate the course has generated.

The ITF Technical Committee are pleased to announce further updates to the on-line exam for the International Instructor Certification.
The exam has been operating since 2019, and so far over 1000 ITF members have completed the exam. The exam is open to all 3rd degree holders and above at https://data.itftkd.sport/signin
The exam is open to 3rd degrees, so this means you can take the test before your 4th degree grading if you wish to do so, making the process of applying for your international instructors’ certificate faster, once you pass your grading.
The main change we have introduced this month is a shorter test for all Non-English or Spanish speaking countries. For members of these countries, the exam is reduced to 5 sections, with a total of 50 multi-choice questions. This will enable them to sit with a translator and work through the exam in a reasonable period of time. The shorter exam is enabled automatically.
We have also made improvements to the interface and worked hard to overcome issues with browser compatibility and connectivity issues. The exam is now hosted on the ITF Online domain rather than using an external provider.
Thanks to our database engineer Kajetan Targoński for bring these improvements together.

It has been two and a half years since the organizers, in agreement with the ITF Board of Directors, had to make the difficult decision and announce that the VIII. ITF World Cup in Koper will be postponed to 2022 due to the worldwide pandemic situation. However, we faced this new challenge as a team and therefore we were able to solve the related difficulties together. Here I would like to express my sincere thanks to all those involved.
Now, about two months before the start of the biggest ITF event, the “hot phase” is beginning. From the Organizing Committee to the involved ITF Committees (IT, Tournament and Umpire Committees, Medical and Anti-Doping Committee, Development and Communication Committee) to the ITF General Board and of course the participating nations, everyone is in intensive preparation. The current regulations regarding Covid-19 are acceptable, but for some countries still very difficult or impossible to fulfill. Unfortunately, we have to live with that.
Nevertheless, it can be said that all members of the ITF are looking forward to this event and it would be nice to see as many participants as possible in Koper to enjoy our fantastic sport together. I wish you a good and successful preparation and a safe journey!
With warmest regards
GM Paul Weiler
ITF President
