On January 12, 2025, the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) held its first Board Meeting of the year. Conducted virtually, the meeting lasted approximately 4.5 hours and was attended by the full ITF Board of Directors, the Secretary General, and the General Counsel.
The session covered 20 agenda items, with several key topics taking center stage. Among these was the ongoing refinement of the ITF’s Governance Regulations, an important step in strengthening the organization’s operational framework and ensuring adherence to modern governance standards.
Another significant focus was the planning of a special event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Taekwon-Do in 2025. This milestone event aims to honor the rich history and global impact of the martial art since its inception. Additionally, detailed discussions were held regarding preparations for the 2025 ITF World Championships in Croatia in October, where the ITF aims to continue delivering a world-class competition showcasing Taekwon-Do’s top talent.
The Board also addressed the pending 2026 ITF World Cup, which faced a setback after Ireland withdrew its bid due to a government ruling that rendered the proposed venue unavailable. The Board explored alternative hosting options and discussed next steps to secure a new host nation.
The meeting concluded with a strong commitment to advancing the ITF’s mission in 2025. The ITF remains dedicated to promoting the legacy of Taekwon-Do and looks forward to another successful and impactful year.
