The ITF Communications Committee
Mr. Jean-Marc Demers, Chair, ITF Communications Committee
The nomination of Mr. Jean-Marc Demers to Chair of the ITF Communications Committee was approved by the Board of Directors at their meeting in Italy last July.
Mr. Demers started studying TKD in the 1980s and holds a Black Belt 1st degree. From 1985 to 1989, he served as vice-president of Canadian TKD Federation International, working with Master Trân Trieu Quân who was president of the federation at that time.
Trained as a lawyer, Mr. Demers has extensive experience in the field of communications. Since 1998, he has been a commissioner of the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission, a government body which regulates and supervises all aspects of the Canadian broadcasting system and service providers in Canada. He had prevand telecommunications common carriersiously been a member of the Quebec Telecommunications Board for ten years, serving as Chair for five of those years.
The names of the other members of the committee – one representative from each continent – will be announced soon. As outlined in ITF By-Law No. 1, item 4.9.6, the Communications Committee ensures the quality of communications, both internal and external. Thus, the committee is responsible for:
- all ITF publications, whether on the Web or in print,
- developing an image of the ITF and promoting that image,
- relations with the media and public relations,
- advertising.
