The first preparations for the World Championships 2023 started a few years ago. Since the begining of 2023, the local organizers and several ITF Committees meet on a regular basis to ensure a smooth and pleasant World Championships for everyone in September in Tampere, Finland.
Starting with monthly virtual meetings of the organizers, headed by Heli Karjalainen, and the chairs of the ITF Tournament Committee, (GM Coos van den Heuvel), ITF Umpire Committee (GM Abelardo Benzaquen), ITF IT Committee (GM Harry Vones), and the ITF Development and Communication Committee (Sbn Daniel Schmidt), the intensity has increased a lot with currently weekly meetings. In addition, meetings of the local communication team and members of the ITF Development and Communication Committee were scheduled to ensure a well documented and broadcasted World Championships. Several other ITF Committees, e.g., the ITF Women’s Commitee and ITF Technical and Instruction Committee, are working hard to generate value for our members in Finland and beyond.
