The first time I met the General was in Stuttgart, Germany on July 1973. As we did not have Korean Masters in the Netherlands, I participated at seminars with late Master Kim Kwang Il whom I visited for several years in order to learn more.
During a training, a door opened and a small person entered…. It was the General. It was quite impressive to see him at a short distance.
During my 52 years of practising Taekwon-Do, I have been a lot in contact with the General especially after Moscow 1993 whilst during the second day of the Junior WC he asked me to take care of the organization of the event.
In addition, to be close to the General I did participate at various IIC’s just to learn and increase my knowledge and having other memorable moments like receiving compliments.
One of the best moments maybe was when I was asked to organize the 1994 WC in Malaysia and was nominated by the General as Chairman of Tournament, Technique and Umpire. An event, which for sure many remember as one of the most successful WC in the ITF.
In the year 2000 the General invited me to Vienna, Austria to talk about Traditional Free Sparring and was asked to set up the rules and regulations.
I am very grateful being able to became an International Instructor and Master under the leadership of the General.
Life continuous No regrets.
