The work of the ITF is often silent and is reflected in small actions that aim to improve people’s quality of life.
In this direction, each of our committees has plans to provide all possible support so that each community can fulfill its objective.
On this occasion, the Inclusion Committee led by Sabum Nim Leo Oros Duek, and with the unconditional support of President GM Paul Weiler, managed the donation of rubber floors for the Adapted Taekwon-Do School of Caleta Olivia in Argentina, directed by BSBN Anabel Vicario.
In the BSBN Vicario’s own words:
“After so many years of hard work in Taekwon-Do and the disability inclusion project, the generosity of the ITF in donating the rubber floors to us so that the students at my school can practice in better conditions is overwhelming.”
For Anabel, this dream began 8 years ago, seeking to unite her vocation to work with people with disabilities and her passion for Taekwon-Do.
Her great challenge was to create the necessary conditions so that each of her students with different abilities could learn Taekwon-Do in the best possible way.
For the president of the SBN Inclusion Committee, Leo Oros Duek, “… this is one more step, small and big at the same time, of the many that we have been silently taking through the ITF so that Taekwon-Do is as inclusive as possible. “
He also mentioned the support of GM Héctor Marano, chairman of the Technical and Instruction Committee, with his experience contributing permanently to the development of teaching techniques.
A fundamental part of this project, the ITF president, mentioned to us: “The donation of the training floors is only a modest part of the overall project and the work that BSBN Anabel has already done for so many years.”
And he especially stressed the importance of the Inclusion Committee in the formation of seriously trained instructors since “Working with people who have physical or mental difficulties is a special challenge with which not many can identify and not all are qualified.”
Finally, GM Weiler comments on the importance of Adapted Taekwon-Do since:” He also shows that TKD is more than just a competition, it is also a tool to develop our society. From my experience, I can say that with this program, we are ahead of many other organizations.”
At the end, the president commented: “On behalf of the ITF Board of Directors and its members, I would like to thank Sabum Nim Leo Oros Duek and his entire team for the excellent work, which is not always done under easy conditions, and to at the same time, I hope this donation is a little help.”
